Good morning!

Today we have 2 guest bloggers. Yep, that’s right Hoops and Yoyo are here for your entertainment pleasure!

Let’s all give them a big NICE SCREAM!!!

IMG_7738 blog.JPG

Oh man, Hoops and Yoyo just told me that they don’t really want to help me with my blog because they were over at Hallmark last night working on their own blog! Come on guys – I have some coffee for you!!!
Hoops: What are we going to do today??? I’m boooooored!
Yoyo: Yeah, me too. I’m boooooored!
Hoops: We never get to do anything and it is so hot!
Yoyo: Are we done with this yet?
Me: Ok guys, here is some more coffee.

Ok, I’m back – that was brief but when I went to do the hyperlink, I found that they already have their own blog and I didn’t know. So I guess they will just have to help me with the technical aspects of Spincerely yours, and show up in our photos.

Speaking of the technical aspects – I joined a Web Ring last night! That’s right, the Fiber Arts Bloggers Netring! I’m so excited! In order to be accepted into the netring (Yay! I’m part of something!!!), you have to display the link to the netring on your blog. The instructions say to copy a chunk of code and paste it into your blog. Well, that is not really very helpful. Like where the heck are you supposed to paste it? So anyway, I am so proud of myself! The first time I tried pasting it in – it was just like randomly floating around on my blog. So then I really had to try to figure out some of the php stuff on my theme editing page. Mr. IHA (hahaha – that’s my husband) helped a little – but really I actually did it and wasn’t just some passive bystander! I made a whole new little bubble for my webrings in my sidebar!!! It involved actually using the php code! Maybe all those Pascal and Fortran classes I took 17 years ago paid off! (I have to insert here – that my Fortran class at U of H wins the prize for being the most boring class ever in the history of the world. Seriously – boring subject combined with a monotonous teacher.)
In knitting news I am this far on my Colorwork Sling Bag:

And my youngest daughter lost her first tooth at 7 years and 11 months old:

I know it looks like she is missing two teeth, but she lost a top tooth when she was in Kindergarten. She fell on the playground and had to have it pulled so that doesn’t count as a real lost tooth. Maybe this means that it won’t be too long before she starts to grow her adult teeth!!!

Have a great day!

Early this month I went to the TKGA Summer Conference in Pennsylvania where I did quite a bit of shopping in the marketplace. One of the Vendors there was Grafton Fibers where I bought one of their yummy batts!

They have so many great colors, it was hard to choose which one to buy! Since the yarn from this fiber is going to be a gift, I had to stear away from the greens and purples that I am usually draw me in and suck me up. The yarn is for a nice lady at work who shared some yarn with me so I would have enough to complete a project.

My spinning wheel is a Kromski Minstrel. Which I purchase a couple of years ago from The Wheel Thing. I am still working on naming her. I know, it is taking a while and I really should know what her name is by now. I’ll take some suggestions though!

Here is the spun single on the bobbin:

And the Navajo plied yarn:

And in the skein:

This fiber is so fun to spin! When I was just a beginner spinner, my sister took me to the Open House of the Northeast Handspinners Association in Newfane, VT where Grafton Fibers was a vendor. That day I bought my first pretty drop spindle and a batt of their fibers. It was my first venture into spinning anything that was not an off white or grey roving. I spun it up and made a very lumpy, bumpy hat for my daughter – yellow and pink – her favorite colors. I think my spinning has come a long way since then! For anyone who is just learning to spin – once you learn the basic steps – really it is all just practice. It is ok if your yarn is not perfect the first time, just keep spinning!

I am so happy! Last night my sister sent me an e-mail that was like a present! She knew what I needed and I hadn’t even asked her yet.

This is going to be a posting about very basic blogging stuff. It will be a big snoozer for anyone that already has a blog, but I think so far, my audience is mostly my non blogging friends, so it is probably a good fit.

I was having problems uploading my picture files. They were huge and taking forever and though I hadn’t taken a huge amount of time to look, I could not find a quick answer to shrinking them in Photoshop Elements the photomanaging and editing program that I use.

She said that all I needed to do was to compress them in Microsoft Office Picture Manager and they will upload much faster and take up much less space. So I did a search and found that I have that program right on my computer already! I did a few test runs and the image quality is still excellent and it is so incredibly fast! I think I may even be able to do a gardening posting soon! I thought I was going to have to do some tricky manuvering with plugins or something really that I don’t understand, but this, I can do…

Thanks Elizabeth!

Next adventure in blogging software and needed very soon – a spell check plug-in!!!!

Well, the title says it all. They are bored. We are going to have to think of some better ways to entertain them.*

What have they done so far this summer? They have done some knitting, scrapbooking, bike riding, canoeing, and swimming. They have been to Duck Day, Camp Mohawk, Field Hockey camp, the playground, Brodie Park, and a birthday party. They have cooked with the Easy Bake Oven, baked cinnamon rolls with yeast, and drank lots of coffee. They have played the flute and the violin. They have had Twinkies for the first time. They have even joined us for the sacred watching of This Old House on Saturday nights.

What do you think they should do next? Please let me know what you think they should do next week. These guys are fun loving creatures who are getting very antsy and driving us nuts with stuff like: “We’re bored.” “We don’t know what to do.” “What are we going to do now?” They really need their own social director.

Blogstuff – Today I worked on creating a Current Projects page. I think it is best if I just start with what I’m working on now and not try to get bogged down in past projects. Now, when I finish something from the Current Project page, I can create a Finished Objects page and move it on over (I hope I figure out an easier way to post photos soon because the way I do it now takes like 18 bajillion years.)

Speaking of time consuming – I’m wondering how people who blog have time to work on anything except the blogging. I guess there is a learning curve for the blog software and I’m at the steep part of it now. Hopefully, soon, I will have some time to do fun stuff like dyeing (and spinning, and weavette-ing, and more scrapbooking, and more knitting) that will have awesome pictures. I’m also working on designing a sweater. So I’ll be posting about that soon.

Tonight I worked a bit on my Colorwork Slingbag. I choose this project because it incorporates a few techniques that I need to practice and/or learn. It uses stranded knitting, Russian slip stich, and intarsia. This will be my first time with intarsia and what better way than to learn than in a project that will be felted. I’m also curious to see how the Nature Wool will felt.

Thank you everyone for your nice (nice? I mean awesomely incredible!) comments on my first blog entry (and on my Pages)! I really like comments! You guys rock! I think I am going to work on leaving more comments on the blogs that I read since now I know how it is…

P.S. to J – I promise to write some scrapbooking posts while you are on vacation!

*If you are unfamiliar with Hoops and Yoyo, I added their site to my list of Delicious Links on my sidebar.

I’ve been waiting all week for an idea to come to me, because you see, this first post has to be spectacular! But, although I’ve had severaly ideas, none of them have seemed to be “first Post” quality. So I’ve decided to take a different tatic. My first post is just going to be all about getting it over with so I’m just no longer a blogging virgin. Then maybe the good stuff will come after that!

So this is it, my first post! Whoo hooo!!!

I do want to add a couple crafty pictures though, so I can check off some categories on my side bar!
