Humm… my Wordpress knew this title, apparently because I used it last year.  Usually when I wake up on February 1st it is really exciting because it is my birthday month, but not so much this year because my birthday is confined to a single day.  I don’t know how all you normal people do it.  I mean, it is good to have one special day all to yourself, but isn’t a whole month better?

February is a very busy month.  It is I Love to Read Month, Heart Health Month,  Love your Library Month, and Sweet Potato Month for example.  I was going to do a little research and find out what other things happen in February, but on my first google hit, I found a page that compiles it already, so I will just provide you with the handy-dandy link.

Hey, guess what?  Today is Robinson Crusoe Day!  Robinson Crusoe was actually the first chapter book I ever read as a child (an edited for children version, of course).  I took it out of the school library maybe in second grade?  When we moved back here and I volunteered during Agent K’s library time, one of the first things that I did was see if the actual book that I read was still in the collection.  It was so I took it out to read to her.   (True confessions – the second thing that I did was to see if the book still smelled the same (it did).  Don’t you think that childhood books just smell different?)

So the girls have a “snow” day today.  The quotations are there because it is so not even precipitating outside.  Apparently there is going to be freezing rain later.  I’m using it as an excuse to postpone my first mammogram appointment which I am really not looking forward to.   I did reschedule though, I promise.

One last thing and then we have to figure out how we are going to spend our “snow” day.  Did you know that in some web applications, my birthday doesn’t exist?  I guess it has to be programed in separately from other dates.  For example, I could not get my birthday to enter in Ravelry.  I was really sad so I e-mailed Casey and he fixed it really quickly.  Blogger will not take my birthday.  Every time I edit my profile, I try putting it in and it doesn’t go.  I don’t know if Blogger has anyone to e-mail who would really care though I guess I should probably give it a shot? Ok, I’m just back from the Blogger website and  I seriously can not find an e-mail address on Blogger to report a bug.  There is a help group, but it doesn’t seem as if anyone has asked about February 29.  So sad.

Ok, I lied, I have one more last thing.  I just want to say that I’m very excited because I have some ideas for a new line of colorways for my Etsy shop!   I’m going to do a botanical series and my first color is called Sunflower (I’ll post a photo as soon as I get some good light).  Sarah and I were looking at a painting in the library and she said that I should do a sunflower color so I did and I think it is going to be the start of something…

Have a great Robinson Crusoe Day everyone!

  1. Happy Birthday Month! (yes, I still consider it your month even though you have your big day this time).

Its just started sleeting here on the 21st floor(10:45AM). Not sure what it is doing on the ground :)

    IHA

  2. I think you should celebrate your birthday for the whole month. We had a snow day too the other day, there really was’nt any snow just ice.

  3. Hooray! I feel like your muse. ;-)

Happy Birthday Month! I think there is no reason not to spread out your birthday celebrations for an entire month. I have a birthday every year, not every four years, and I don’t let that stop me! :-)

  4. I think that your birthday month is a time honored tradition and you shouldn’t let a little thing like they actual day get in your way! ;)

    Happy birthday!

  5. Feb 29 b-day!!!! Very cool, and yes, I would celebrate for a whole month too if I were you!!! How cool is that, except for the fact that blogger cannot fathom anyone having a birthday on that day?! I truly wonder how many other programs have that glitch??? Sorry I am sooooo LATE commenting! My husband got back from his thirteen months deployment to Iraq a couple weeks ago and I have been behind on things ever since. :)
