Do you remember that show? Name that Tune? I used to love that show.

What business do I have writing a blog entry today when I don’t even have a title yet? I don’t know, but I have a goal for this week and that is to write one post everyday. I have approximately 7.5 minutes to compose and publish this entry and it usually takes me at least an hour for a short post and 2 to 3 for a longer post! I have to start thinking faster! Did you notice that I said that I had a goal for the week? That is it. One goal. To post on my blog. Please note that my goals for the week do not include housework like washing the dishes or doing the laundry or making dinner. I don’t aspire to such great things. I did have another goal at the beginning of the week and I blew right through that one so I have ungoaled it and it will just get done on its own time line. That goal was to complete a pair of Enchanted Birthday Jaywalkers. Enchanted meaning that I used skein number 2 of my I Would Dye 4 U hand dyed sock yarns. I told Crops a lot that I was really enchanted with that colorway and she said that would be a good name for it because it is rather medieval looking. Birthday meaning that they were for her birthday on the 12th. Jaywalker meaning I used the ever-popular (and now I know why) Jaywalker pattern by Grumperina. So anyway, I would like to post a photo of the sock in progress just to assure Crops a lot that I have not forgotten her. But first I have to take one. I’ll be right back! Don’t worry, you’ll have time to get a cup of coffee, so go ahead…

…ok, so I’m back with photo. How’s your coffee?

Here is Sock number one of the Enchanted Birthday Jaywalkers:

It is all ready for kitchener stitch at the toes. Well, to be more honest – I already did it once and didn’t like it so I took it out and I’m going to wait for a quiet moment (hahaha) to try it again. And then lickety split, I’m going to cast on for the second sock because that is the key to avoiding second sock syndrome. Pick up the needles and cast on right after you kitchener without taking a breath.
Wow, I’ve really strayed off the notes that I wrote for this entry. This wasn’t even the direction I was planning to go! I was intending to write about swatching for the Simple Knitted Bodice. I’m still waiting for my main yarn, but I did spin up a little of the roving and swatched with that to get an idea of what it will look like. So maybe that will be tomorrow’s post unless something more exciting comes up!

Today I’m off to work at the yarn store! I hope someone has dropped a stitch and needs help somewhere out there in Litchfield County. I’m really good at picking up dropped stitches so come on in today. Please????

  1. Ditto, housework, laundry, and dishes are never in my plans either. The jaywalkers look great, love the wool. I think if I worked in a wool shop my whole paycheck would be spent there, the temptation would be too much.

  2. Ms. Spincerely,
I would LOVE to be able to stop by at the knit shop you’re working at. Better yet, since I don’t drive, how ’bout opening a knit shop in rural, southern Vermont. Whitingham, to be exact. And bring your sister, too – she lives too far away – over a bloody mountain, for goodness sakes.

BTW, I wrote to the Knitty editor, on your recommendation. I guess it’s time to plant myself in this century head first…

  3. Hi Tamara,

I have been enjoying your blog VERY much!

I just don’t know how you have the time for all that you do! Do you sleep?

I have a blog question. Is there a way to schedule a post to publish in the future. That is write it today, but publish it next Wednesday while on vacation? This is a work related blog (not public) and I will be off next week and want to send out a reminder midweek.

    Thanks, Leslie

  4. Thanks Leslie! Sleep? No – I’ve been skipping that lately. I have a bit of catching up to do! I already sent you an e-mail about the future posting – but just in case anyone reading this has Wordpress – it is really easy – just use the time stamp field on the screen when you write your post. After you hit publish you can still edit your post by going into manage and then posts and edit. Hope this helps! T.
